TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,335.31 up 74.59 points):

Pembina Pipeline Corp. (TSX:PPL). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 0.36 per cent, to $41.98 on 21 million shares.

Fortis Inc. (TSX:FTS.IR). Utilities. Up 20 cents, or 0.59 per cent, to $33.90 on 16.2 million shares.

Loblaw Companies Ltd. (TSX:L). Retail. Down 13 cents, or 0.28 per cent, to $46.90 on 7.8 million shares.

Nordion Inc. (TSX:NDN). Medical diagnostics and research. Up $1.22, or 10.59 per cent, to $12.74 on 5.7 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace. Up five cents, or 1.23 per cent, to $4.11 on 5.6 million shares.

Shoppers Drug Mart Corp. (TSX:SC). Retail. Down 27 cents, or 0.44 per cent, to $60.83 on 5.3 million shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (994.56 up 4.81 points):

Supreme Pharmaceuticals Inc. (TSXV:SL). Biotechnology. Down 0.5 cents, or 7.69 per cent, to six cents on 10 million shares.

Gem International Resources Inc. (TSXV:GI). Miner. Up two cents, or 400 per cent, to 2.5 cents on 5.5 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian National Railway Co. (TSX:CNR). Railway. Up 68 cents, or 1.11 per cent, to $62.11 on 1.1 million shares. The company says it is making progress to meet the government's target of increasing grain shipments, but also called on Western Canadian grain elevator companies to "step up" their performance.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down nine cents, or 0.38 per cent, to $23.61 on 3.5 million shares. The company has agreed to sell certain natural gas properties in Wyoming for about US$1.8 billion to an affiliate of TPG Capital, a private equity firm. The deal involves about 1,500 active wells in the Jonah field in Wyoming's Sublette County.

Husky Energy Inc. (TSX:HSE). Oil and gas. Up 56 cents, or 1.72 per cent, to $33.16 on 1.1 million shares. The company says natural gas has started to flow from the massive $6.5-billion Liwan offshore project in the South China Sea.

Sherritt International Corp. (TSX:S). Miner. Up 32 cents, or 9.04 per cent, to $3.86 on 3.6 million shares. The chairman of the company has delivered a rebuke to George Armoyan, the activist investor that's pushing for major governance changes at the mining and energy firm.

Telus Corp. (TSX:T). Communication services. Down 72 cents, or 1.78 per cent, to $39.63 on 1.6 million shares. Darren Entwistle is stepping down as chief executive of Telus Corp, but become executive chairman.
