ICBC has launched a new website where you can check if they owe you money from billing errors.
The public auto insurer will be informing affected customers in the next 90 days and mailing refunds out in July. But you can find out now at http://checkmyvehicle.icbc.com/check/.
You'll need your six-character VIC (vehicle identification code) as well as your VIN (vehicle identification number). Both can be found on your insurance certificate.
This month, the Crown corporation revealed that database errors resulted in about 240,000 optional insurance customers being overcharged over the last six years. The average overpayment was $21 each year per customer.
Another 350,000 optional insurance customers were charged too little but ICBC says it won't be trying to recoup that money.
