Tim Hortons Totally Tricks Out Its Oldest Location (PHOTOS)

Tim Hortons officially celebrated its 50th birthday on May 17, 2014, but really the chain has spent the past year celebrating its half-century-long rise to dominance in Canadian fast food.

The chain changed its motto to "50 Years Fresh" last year, launched a nostalgic "bring-it-back" promotion allowing customers to vote on their favourite discontinued Tims items, and even handed out birthday cake on the big day.

Since then, the chain became part of the same multinational as Burger King, but the nostalgia for its quaint early days remains — at least for now. Timmies on Wednesday re-opened its first-ever location — on Ottawa St. in Hamilton, Ont. — tricked out as a hyper-modern outlet-slash-museum.

The location features "a curated collection of Tim Hortons' memorabilia," according to the company, as well as various technological bells and whistles the company says helped it become "Canada's leading quick service restaurant."

The difference between old and new is pretty noticeable. Here's a picture of the Ottawa St. location as it looked in 1964:

Frankly, to us it looks like a pretty imposing structure for a small residential/commercial street in Hamilton. But as long as that sign says "Tim Hortons" and not "Burger King," we're guessing the neighbours won't mind too much.

Here are some more pics of the new location:
